The spooky season is very much upon us and the one thing that is on everyone’s mind is how Covid has ruined it!
Covid has ruined pretty much the whole of 2020 so far hasn’t it and I know we are all pretty sick and tired of hearing about it.
So bore off Corona, we want our spooktacular fun and we at Candy Treats are here to tell you just how to do so and safely.
Trick or treating isn’t advised this year and we understand why but that doesn’t mean you can’t decorate your house still, pop those carved pumpkins outside or dress up!
You may have seen the idea of taking your little monsters out in the search of drawn pumpkins in the window, once spotted pop a sweetie into their buckets. We think this is an amazing idea and really community spirit oriented.
Stick to your family bubble and social distance and you are raring to go.
How about a sweet bush or table? Wrapped sweets or chocolate spaced apart on a table, bush or tree for children to take. Remember to remind your youngsters to not touch each sweet but only the one they would like to take.
As it’s halloween, it is totally acceptable to tell them that the bogeyman will get them if they don’t follow the rules!
Not keen on going out this year? That is 100% ok!!! How about snuggling up on the sofa with hotdogs, sweets and popcorn….. Or any type of treat really and watching those spooky films.
Or hold your very own VIP halloween party? Dim the lights and crack those glow sticks, dance to the monster mash and play some games such as halloween bingo.
Perhaps have a zoom party with your friends, show off those fantastic costumes and have a dance off.
Create a scavenger hunt around the house to find hidden sweets and treats.
There are some fantastic online resources that can be downloaded and printed.
I absolutely love seeing everyone’s pumpkin creations on Halloween. Farm’s haven’t stopped growing pumpkins this year, go get one and let your creativity go wild.
Remember you don’t have to carve, pens and paints and dare I say…. Glitter , can be used too. Go WILD!!!
Our village is coming together this year to make Halloween one to remember but for all the right reasons.
Whilst sadly some activities now cannot go ahead, there will still be an award for the best dressed house, decorated pumpkin, best costume and even the best dressed doggy.
There will be a digital scavenger hunt where various houses will have something to spot.
If you are partaking in such outdoor events, remember to respect the social distancing guidelines, wear your mask (let’s face it, most halloween costumes have a mask incorporated) and take hand sanitiser with you for regular hand washing.
This year is the perfect time to make new family traditions and magical memories and spread positivity into the community.
Remember, you don’t have to buy sweet treats from the shops. Lots of independent sweet businesses can offer fun and unique products and would love your custom.
Just ensure they have their Hygiene rating certificate and insurance. Don’t be afraid to ask to see it, we all need to keep each other safe.
We have plenty of yummy treats available with My VIP Card discount including Candy Treats! Check out their profile here
